Hi, i think i could successfully determine the right installation paths. While trying around a little bit i installed a xorg-development package xorg-dev or something like this. The installation now proposed realsitic paths, nevertheless the installation of the machdriver failed while the common part worked.
The installer said: The script will now compile the DRM kernel modules for your machine. I have no idea how to fix this I recently installed ubuntu dapper and this howto doesn't really work for me. According to the Xorg.
To compile the mach64 I have followed the instructions in that page. Basically: 1. Hi, i tried to compile the mach64 module as masto described. Ati rage mobility p agp facing several problems to use git, you have to install git-core and cogito i managed to compile the mach64 kernel module, which obviously loaded successfully. During the compilation i got some messages that some poniter values are pointing somewhere i didn't understand it completely but the script exited without error code.

When loading the module i've only got a message that something with the module isn't allright so that my kernel is tainted. But i read that this isn't important because it only says, that the module comes ati rage mobility p agp a non trusted source. I hope that interpretation is correct. But when starting gdm the screens gets black and nothing happens :- still doesn't work! Wheres the fault? In my xorg.
That should be done by installing the common modules, right? Maybe the common part did not install correctly although i got no errors.
I hope someone can help me I need XGL! Before we begin, there seems to be an incompatibility between kernel 2. I will not ati rage mobility p agp responsible for any "damage" that using this file causes! Run: glxinfo DRI should be enabled! Doesn't work for me Upgrading to Edgy resulted in the same error. The mach64 package does not compile. The script reports the same error as in Dapper: The DRI drivers can not be installed without the latest kernel modules.
Why are there people, having no problems at all? I'm guessing those are the right drivers, but there terribly outdated. That's the same exact laptop I have.
